Sigurður hét bróðir Ástríðar, sonur Eiríks bjóðaskalla. Hann
hafði þá lengi verið af landi brott og verið austur í
Garðaríki með Valdimar konungi. Hafði Sigurður þar metnað
mikinn. Fýstist Ástríður að fara þannug til Sigurðar bróður
síns. Fékk Hákon gamli henni gott föruneyti og öll góð föng.
Fór hún með kaupmönnum nokkurum. Þá hafði hún verið tvo vetur
með Hákoni gamla. Ólafur var þá þrevetur.

En er þau héldu austur í hafið þá komu að þeim víkingar. Það
voru Eistur. Hertóku þeir bæði menn og fé en drápu suma en
sumum skiptu þeir með sér til ánauðar. Þar skildist Ólafur
við móður sína og tók við honum Klerkón, eistneskur maður, og
þeim Þórólfi og Þorgísli.

Klerkóni þótti Þórólfur gamall til þræls, þótti og ekki
forverk í honum og drap hann en hafði sveinana með sér og
seldi þeim manni er Klerkur hét og tók fyrir hafur einn vel
góðan. Hinn þriðji maður keypti Ólaf og gaf fyrir vesl gott
eða slagning. Sá hét Réas en kona hans hét Rékon en sonur
þeirra Rékoni. Þar var Ólafur lengi og vel haldinn og unni
búandi honum mikið. Ólafur var sex vetur á Eistlandi í
þessari útlegð.
