Kálfur Árnason leitaði að bræðrum sínum er þar voru fallnir. Hann hitti Þorberg og Finn og er það sögn manna að Finnur kastaði að honum saxi og vildi drepa hann og mælti til hans hörðum orðum, kallaði griðníðing og drottinsvika.

Kálfur gaf ekki því gaum og lét Finn bera í brott úr valnum og svo Þorberg. Var þá leitað að um sár þeirra og höfðu þeir engi sár banvæn. Höfðu þeir fallið fyrir vopnaburð og mæði. Þá leitaði Kálfur að flytja bræður sína ofan til skips og fór með þeim sjálfur.

En þegar er hann sneri í brott þá fór í brott allt búandalið það er þar átti heimili í nánd nema þeir menn er þar störfuðu að frændum sínum og vinum, þeim er sárir voru, eða líkum þeirra er fallnir voru. Voru sárir menn fluttir heim á bæinn svo að hvert hús var fullt af þeim en tjaldað úti yfir sumum.

En svo undarlega mart fólk sem safnast hafði í búandaherinn þá þótti mönnum það eigi miður frá líkindum hvernug skjótt ruddi safnaðinn þá er til þess tók og var það mjög til að hið mesta fjölmennið hafði þar safnast úr héruðum og voru mjög heimfúsir.
