Dagur Hringsson hélt þá upp orustu og veitti hina fyrstu atgöngu svo harða að bændur hrukku fyrir en sumir sneru á flótta. Þá féll fjöldi liðs af bóndum en þessir lendir menn: Erlendur úr Gerði, Áslákur af Finneyju. Var þá merki það niður höggvið er þeir höfðu áður með farið. Var þá orusta hin ákafasta. Kölluðu menn það Dagshríð.

Þá sneru þeir í móti Dag Kálfur Árnason, Hárekur úr Þjóttu, Þórir hundur, með þá fylking er þeim fylgdi. Var þá Dagur borinn afli og sneri hann þá á flótta og allt lið það er eftir var. Og verður þar dalur nokkur upp sem meginflóttinn fór. Féll þar þá mart lið. Dreifðist þá fólkið tveggja vegna í brott. Voru margir menn sárir mjög en margir svo mjög mæddir að til einskis voru færir. Bændur ráku skammt flótta því að höfðingjar sneru brátt aftur og þar til er valurinn var því að margir áttu þar að leita eftir vinum sínum og frændum.
