Frá því er nú að segja er áður var frá horfið að lendir menn og bændur höfðu saman dregið her óvígjan þegar er þeir spurðu að konungur var austan farinn úr Garðaríki og hann var kominn til Svíþjóðar.


En er þeir spurðu að konungur var austan kominn til Jamtalands og hann ætlaði að fara austan um Kjöl til Veradals þá stefndu þeir herinum inn í Þrándheim og söfnuðu þá saman þar allri alþýðu, þegn og þræl, og fóru svo inn til Veradals og höfðu þar svo mikið lið að engi maður var sá þar er í Noregi hefði séð jafnmikinn her saman koma. Var þar sem jafnan kann verða í miklum her að lið var allmisjafnt. Þar var mart lendra manna og mikill fjöldi ríkra búanda en þó var hitt allur múgur er voru þorparar og verkmenn. Og var það allur meginherinn er þar hafði saman safnast í Þrándheimi. Var það lið allmjög geyst til fjandskapar við konung.
