En er það spurðist í Noreg að Ólafur konungur var austan kominn til Svíþjóðar þá söfnuðust saman vinir hans, þeir er honum vildu lið veita. Var í þeim flokki tignastur maður Haraldur Sigurðarson bróðir Ólafs konungs. Hann var þá fimmtán vetra gamall, mikill maður vexti og roskinmannlegur. Mart var þar annarra göfugra manna. Þeir fengu alls sex hundruð manna þá er þeir fóru af Upplöndum og stefndu við lið það austur um Eiðaskóg til Vermalands. Síðan stefndu þeir austur um markir til Svíþjóðar, spurðust þá fyrir um ferðir Ólafs konungs.
