Ólafur konungur hélt skipum sínum út til Túnsbergs þegar er hann spurði að Knútur konungur var farinn suður til Danmarkar. Síðan bjó hann ferð sína með lið það er honum vildi fylgja og hafði hann þá þrettán skip. Síðan hélt hann út eftir Víkinni og fékk hann lítið af fé og svo af mönnum nema þeir fylgdu honum er eyjar byggðu eða útnes. Gekk konungur þá ekki á land upp, hafði slíkt af fé eða mönnum sem á leið hans varð. Hann fann það að landið var þá svikið undan honum. Fór hann þá svo sem byrjaði. Var það öndurðan vetur.

Þeim byrjaði heldur seint. Lágu þeir í Sóleyjum mjög lengi og spurðu þar tíðindi af kaupmönnum norðan úr landi. Var konungi þá sagt að Erlingur Skjálgsson hafði liðsafnað mikinn á Jaðri, skeið hans lá fyrir landi albúin og fjöldi annarra skipa er bændur áttu. Voru það skútur og lagnarskip og róðrarferjur stórar.

Konungurinn hélt austan liðinu og lá um hríð í Eikundasundi. Spurðu þá hvorir til annarra. Fjölmenntist Erlingur sem mest þá.
