Ólafur konungur sendi boð um vorið vestur um Agðir og allt norður um Rogaland og um Hörðaland að hann vill hvorki korn né malt né mjöl þaðan í brott láta selja, lét það fylgja að hann mun þangað koma með lið sitt og fara að veislum svo sem siðvenja var til. Fór þetta boð um þau fylki öll en konungur dvaldist í Víkinni um sumarið og fór allt austur til landsenda.

Einar þambarskelfir hafði verið með Ólafi Svíakonungi síðan er Sveinn jarl andaðist, mágur hans, og gerst Svíakonungs maður, tekið þar af honum lén mikið. En er konungur var andaður þá fýstist Einar að leita sér griða til Ólafs digra og höfðu þar um vorið farið orðsendingar milli.

En er Ólafur konungur lá í Elfi þá kom þar Einar þambarskelfir með nokkura menn. Ræddu þeir konungur þá um sætt sína og samdist það með þeim að Einar skyldi fara norður til Þrándheims og hafa eignir sínar allar og svo þær jarðir er Bergljótu höfðu heiman fylgt. Fór Einar þá norður leið sína en konungur dvaldist í Víkinni og var lengi í Borg um haustið og öndurðan vetur.
