Ólafur konungur bjóst nú um vorið með fimm skipum og hafði nær þremur hundruðum manna. En er hann var búinn þá byrjar hann ferð sína norður með landi og er hann kom í Naumdælafylki stefndi hann þing við bændur. Var hann þá til konungs tekinn á hverju þingi. Hann lét þá og þar sem annars staðar lög þau upp lesa sem hann bauð mönnum þar í landi kristni að halda og lagði við líf og limar eða aleigusök hverjum manni er eigi vildi undirganga kristin lög. Veitti konungur þar mörgum mönnum stórar refsingar og lét það ganga jafnt yfir ríka sem óríka. Skildist hann svo við í hverju héraði að allt fólk játti að halda helga trú. En flestir ríkismenn og margir stórbændur gerðu veislur í mót konungi. Fór hann svo norður allt á Hálogaland.


Hárekur í Þjóttu veitti konungi veislu og var þar allmikið fjölmenni og veisla hin prýðilegsta. Gerðist Hárekur þá lendur maður Ólafs konungs. Fékk konungur honum þá veislur svo sem hann hafði haft af hinum fyrrum landshöfðingjum.
