Eftir þessi tíðindi er nú var frá sagt sneri Ólafur konungur liði sínu aftur í Víkina, fór þá fyrst til Túnsbergs og dvaldist þar litla hríð og fór norður í land og um haustið allt norður í Þrándheim og lét þar búa til veturvistar og sat þar um veturinn.

Þá var Ólafur einvaldskonungur yfir öllu því ríki er haft hafði Haraldur hinn hárfagri og því framar að hann var einn konungur yfir landi. Hann hafði þá fengið með friði og sætt þann hluta lands er áður hafði haft Ólafur Svíakonungur. En þann hluta lands er Danakonungur hafði haft tók hann með valdi og réð fyrir þeim hluta slíkt sem annars staðar í landi.

Knútur Danakonungur réð í þann tíma bæði fyrir Englandi og Danmörk og sat hann sjálfur lengstum á Englandi en setti höfðingja til landstjórnar í Danmörk og veitti hann ekki tilkall í Noreg í þann tíma.
