Ólafur konungur hafði þar látið við búast. Var þar alls konar drykkur er bestan mátti fá og öll önnur föng voru þar hin bestu. Hann hafði þá og til sín stefnt úr héruðum mörgu stórmenni.


En er jarl kom þar með sínu liði þá fagnar konungur honum forkunnarvel og voru jarli fengin herbergi stór og góð og búin ítarlega og þar með þjónustumenn og þeir er fyrir sáu að engan hlut skyldi skorta, þann er veislu mætti prýða.


En er sú veisla hafði staðið nokkura daga þá var konungur og jarl og konungsdóttir á málstefnu en það kom upp af tali þeirra að sú var ráðagerð að Rögnvaldur jarl fastnaði Ástríði dóttur Ólafs Svíakonungs Ólafi Noregskonungi með þeirri heimanfylgju sem áður hafði skilið verið að Ingigerður systir hennar skyldi hafa heiman haft. Konungur skyldi og veita Ástríði þvílíka tilgjöf sem hann skyldi hafa veitt Ingigerði systur hennar. Var þá sú veisla aukin og var þá drukkið brullaup Ólafs konungs og Ástríðar drottningar með mikilli vegsemd.


Eftir það fór Rögnvaldur jarl aftur til Gautlands og að skilnaði veitti konungur jarli góðar gjafir og stórar og skildust hinir kærstu vinir og héldu því meðan þeir lifðu báðir.
