Einar þambarskelfir og sú sveit er honum hafði fylgt fór um veturinn til Svíakonungs og var þar í góðu yfirlæti. Þar var og mart annarra manna er jarli hafði fylgt.

Svíakonungi hugnaðist stórilla við Ólaf digra það er hann hafði sest í skattland hans en rekið í brott Svein jarl. Konungur hét þar fyrir Ólafi hinum mestum afarkostum þá er hann mætti við komast. Segir hann að eigi mun Ólafur svo djarfur vera að hann muni taka undir sig það veldi er jarl hafði átt. Því fylgdu margir Svíakonungs menn að svo mundi vera.

En er Þrændir spurðu til sanns að Sveinn jarl var andaður og hans var ekki von til Noregs þá snerist öll alþýða til hlýðni við Ólaf konung. Fóru þá margir menn innan úr Þrándheimi á fund Ólafs konungs og gerðust menn hans en sumir sendu orð og jartegnir að þeir vildu þjóna honum.

Fór hann þá um haustið inn í Þrándheim og átti þing við bændur. Var hann þar í hverju fylki til konungs tekinn. Hann fór þá út til Niðaróss og lét þangað flytja allar konungsskyldir og efnaði þar til vetursetu.
