Sunnudagsmorguninn þegar er lýsti stóð Ólafur konungur upp og klæddist, gekk á land, lét þá blása öllu liðinu til landgöngu. Þá átti hann tal við liðið og segir alþýðu að hann hefir þá spurt að skammt mun milli þeirra Sveins jarls.


"Skulum vér nú," segir hann, "við búast því að skammt mun vera til fundar vors. Vopnist menn nú og búi hver sig og sitt rúm, þar er áður er skipað, svo að allir séu þá búnir er eg læt blása til brautlögunnar. Róum síðan samfast, fari engir fyrr en allur fer flotinn, dveljist og engi þá eftir er eg ræ úr höfninni því að eigi megum vér vita hvort vér munum jarlinn hitta, þar er nú liggur hann, eða munu þeir sækja í móti oss. En ef fund vorn ber saman og takist orusta þá heimti vorir menn saman skipin og séu búnir að tengja. Hlífum oss fyrst og gætum vopna vorra að vér berum eigi á sæ eða köstum á glæ. En er festist orusta og skipin hafa saman bundist gerið þá sem harðasta hríðina og dugi hver sem mannlegast."
