text and translation

The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):

Eftir það stefndu konungar þing. Þá bar Ólafur konungur upp fyrir alþýðu þessa ráðagerð og það tilkall er hann hefir þar til ríkis, biður þá bændur sér viðurtöku til konungs yfir landi, heitir þeim þar í móti lögum fornum og því að verja land fyrir útlendum her og höfðingjum, talar um það langt og snjallt. Fékk hann góðan róm að máli sínu.

Þá stóðu upp konungar og töluðu annar að öðrum og fluttu allir þetta mál og erindi fyrir lýðinum. Varð það þá að lyktum að Ólafi var gefið konungsnafn yfir landi öllu og dæmt honum land að upplenskum lögum.
