Eysteinn konungur var maður hinn fríðasti sýnum, bláeygur og
nokkuð opineygur, bleikhár og hrokkinhár, ekki hár
meðalmaður, spekingur að viti, að öllu fróður, lögum og dæmum
og mannfræði, ráðsnjallur og orðspakur og hinn snjallasti,
manna glaðastur og lítillátastur, hugþekkur og ástsæll allri
alþýðu. Hann átti Ingibjörgu dóttur Guttorms
Steigar-Þórissonar. Þeirra dóttir hét María er síðan átti
Guðbrandur Skafhöggsson.
