Magnús Ólafsson hóf ferð sína af Sigtúnum og hafði þá lið
mikið er Svíar höfðu fengið honum. Þeir fóru fæti um Svíþjóð
og svo til Helsingjalands.

Svo segir Arnór jarlaskáld:

Rauðar báruð randir síðan,

rimmu Yggr, um sænskar byggðir.

Eigi gastu liðskost lágan.

Landsfólk sótti þér til handa.

Austan þurðuð, úlfa ferðar,

öldum kunnr, með hvíta skjöldu,

tungu rjóðr, til tírar þinga,

teknir menn, og dör hin reknu.

Síðan fór Magnús Ólafsson austan um Jamtaland og um Kjöl og
ofan í Þrándheim og tók þegar allt landsfólk vel við honum.
En menn Sveins konungs, þegar er þeir spurðu að Magnús sonur
Ólafs konungs var þar í land kominn, þá flýðu allir víðs
vegar og forðuðu sér. Varð þar engi mótstaða veitt Magnúsi.
Var Sveinn konungur suður í landi.

Svo segir Arnór jarlaskáld:

Austan komstu með allra hæstum,

Yggjar más, í þrænskar byggðir,

fiðrirjóðr, en fjandmenn yðra

fálma kváðu, ægishjálmi.

Breiðast vissu, blágams fæðir

benja kólgu, yðrir dólgar,

hræddir urðu fjörvi að forða

fjandmenn þínir, vesöld sína.
