Magnús konungur byrjar ferð sína af landi og hafði her
mikinn. Þá hafði hann verið konungur í Noregi níu vetur. Þá
fór hann vestur um haf og hafði hið fríðasta lið er til var í
Noregi. Honum fylgdu allir ríkismenn er voru í landinu,
Sigurður Hranason, Víðkunnur Jónsson, Dagur Eilífsson, Serkur
úr Sogni, Eyvindur ölbogi stallari konungs, Úlfur Hranason
bróðir Sigurðar og margir aðrir ríkismenn. Fór konungur með
þessu liði öllu vestur til Orkneyja og hafði þaðan með sér
sonu Erlends jarls, Magnús og Erling.

Þá sigldi hann til Suðureyja og er hann lá við Skotland þá
hljóp Magnús Erlendsson um nótt af skipi konungs og lagðist
til lands, fór síðan upp í skóg og kom fram í hirð
Skotakonungs.

Magnús konungur hélt liðinu til Írlands og herjaði þar. Þá
kom Mýrjartak konungur til liðs við hann og unnu þeir mikið
af landinu, Dyflinn og Dyflinnarskíri, og var Magnús konungur
um veturinn uppi á Kunnöktum með Mýrjartak konungi en setti
menn sína til landsgæslu þar er hann hafði unnið. En er
voraði fóru konungarnir með her sinn vestur á Úlastír og áttu
þar orustur margar og unnu landið og höfðu unnið mestan hluta
af Úlastír. Þá fór Mýrjartak heim á Kunnaktir.
