En er Svíakonungur spurði þetta þá bauð hann liði saman og
fóru þau orð um að hann mundi ofan ríða en það frestaðist.

Þá kváðu Norðmenn þetta:

Alllengi dvelr Ingi

ofanreið hinn þjóbreiði.

En er ísa lagði á vatnið Væni þá reið Ingi konungur ofan og
hafði nær þrjá tigu hundraða manna. Hann sendi orð Norðmönnum
þeim er í borginni sátu, bað þá fara í brott með fangi því er
þeir höfðu og aftur í Noreg. En er sendimenn báru konungsorð
þá svarar Sigurður ullstrengur, sagði að Ingi mundi öðru við
koma en vísa þeim brott sem hjörð í haga og kvað hann nær
áður mundu ganga verða. Sendimenn báru aftur þau orð til
konungs. Síðan fór Ingi konungur út í eyna með allan herinn.
Þá sendi hann annað sinni menn til Norðmanna og bað þá í
brott fara og hafa vopn sín, klæði og hesta en láta eftir
ránfé allt. Þeir neittu þessu.

En síðan veittu þeir atgöngu og skutust á. Þá lét konungur
bera til grjót og viðu og fylla díkið. Þá lét hann taka
akkeri og drengja við ása langa og bera það upp á
timburvegginn. Gengu þar til margir menn og drógu sundur
vegginn. Þá voru gervar eisur stórar og skotið logandi
bröndum að þeim. Þá báðu Norðmenn griða en konungur bað þá út
ganga vopnlausa og yfirhafnarlausa en er þeir gengu út þá var
hver þeirra sleginn límahögg. Fóru þeir brott við svo búið og
heim aftur í Noreg en Markamenn allir snerust þá aftur undir
Inga konung. Þeir Sigurður og hans félagar sóttu á fund
Magnúss konungs og segja honum sínar ófarar.
