The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):


Erlingur skakki fór um haustið austur í Vík og dvaldist í Túnsbergi, gerði menn yfir til Borgar og lét stefna þar fjögurra fylkna þing í Borginni. Síðan fór Erlingur þannug með liði sínu.


En er þing var sett þá talaði Erlingur og sagði frá því hver ráðagerð hafði verið staðfest með þeim Danakonungi þá er þeir Erlingur höfðu hafið flokk þenna fyrsta sinn: "Vil eg," segir hann, "og halda öll einkamál þau, er vér gerðum þá, ef það er vilji og samþykki yðart bóndanna að þjóna Danakonungi heldur en þessum konungi er hér er vígður og kórónaður til lands."


Bændur svöruðu Erlingi og sögðu svo: "Fyrir engan mun viljum vér gerast menn Danakonungs meðan einn vor er á lífi Víkverjanna."


Geystist þá að múgur allur með ópi og kalli og báðu Erling halda eiða sína er hann hafði þá svarið öllu landsfólki að verja "land sonar þíns en vér skulum allir fylgja þér."


Sleit svo því þingi.


Síðan fóru sendimenn Danakonungs heim suður til Danmerkur og sögðu sitt erindi slíkt sem var. Danir veittu Erlingi mikið ámæli og öllum Norðmönnum, sögðu að þeir væru aldrei reyndir nema að illu. Fóru þau orð um að Danakonungur mundi eftir um vorið hafa úti her sinn og herja í Noreg. Erlingur fór um haustið norður til Björgynjar og sat þar um veturinn og gaf þar mála.
