The new edition is either unpublished or unavailable. The following is taken from an old edition (Skj where relevant):


Fimm vetrum eftir andlát Sigurðar konungs urðu tíðindi mikil í Konungahellu. Þeir voru þar þá sýslumenn Guttormur, sonur Haralds flettis, og Sæmundur húsfreyja. Hann átti Ingibjörgu dóttur Andréss prests Brúnssonar, þeirra synir Páll flípur og Gunni físs. Ásmundur hét sonur Sæmundar laungetinn. Andrés Brúnsson var mikill merkismaður. Hann söng að Krosskirkju. Solveig hét kona hans. Með þeim var þá að fóstri og uppfæðslu Jón Loftsson og var ellefu vetra gamall. Loftur prestur Sæmundarson faðir Jóns var og þar. Dóttir Andréss prests og Solveigar hét Helga er Einar átti.


Það barst að í Konungahellu drottinsnótt hina næstu eftir páskaviku að gnýr varð mikill úti á strætum um allan býinn sem þá er konungur fór með alla hirð sína og hundar létu svo illa að eigi mátti varðveita og brutust út, en allir er út komu urðu galnir og bitu allt það er fyrir varð, menn og fénað. En allt það er bitið var og blóðið kom á, þá ærðist, og allt það er hafanda var, lét burð sinn og ærðist. Þessi minning var nálega hverja nótt frá páskum til uppstigningardags.


Menn óttuðust mjög undur þessi og réðust margir í brott og seldu garða sína, fóru í hérað eða í aðra kaupstaði og þótti þeim öllum það mest vert er vitrastir voru og hræddust það sem var, að þetta mundi vera fyrir miklum stórtíðindum, þeim er þá voru enn eigi fram komin.


En Andrés prestur talaði þá langt og snjallt hvítsunnudag og veik hann svo til lykta ræðu sinni að hann ræddi um vanda bæjarmanna og bað menn herða hugi sína og eyða eigi þann hinn dýrlega stað, hafa heldur gæslu yfir sér og ætla ráð sín og gæta sín við öllu því er við mætti komast, við eldi eða ófriði, og biðja sér miskunnar til guðs.
