Úlfur gyldir hét hersir ríkur á Þelamörk; hann bjó á
Fíflavöllum; hans son var Ásgrímur, er þar bjó síðan.



Haraldur konungur hárfagri sendi Þórorm frænda sinn úr Þrumu
að heimta skatt af Ásgrími, en hann galt eigi. Þá sendi hann
Þórorm annað sinn til höfuðs honum, og drap hann þá Ásgrím.



Þá var Þorsteinn son Ásgríms í víkingu, en Þorgeir, annar son
hans, var tíu vetra. Nokkuru síðar kom Þorsteinn úr hernaði
og lagði til Þrumu og brenndi Þórorm inni og hjú hans öll, en
hjó búið og rænti öllu lausafé. Eftir það fór hann til
Íslands og Þorgeir bróðir hans og Þórunn móðursystir þeirra;
hún nam Þórunnarhálsa alla.



Þorgeir keypti Oddalönd að Hrafni Hængssyni og Strandir báðar
og Vatnadal og allt milli Rangár og Hróarslækjar; hann bjó
fyrst í Odda og fékk þá Þóríðar Eilífsdóttur.



Þorsteinn nam land að ráði Flosa, er numið hafði áður
Rangárvöllu, fyrir ofan Víkingslæk til móts við
Svínhaga-Björn (og) bjó í Skarðinu eystra.



Um hans daga kom skip út í Rangárós; þar var á sótt mikil, en
menn vildu eigi hjálpa þeim. Þá fór Þorsteinn til þeirra og
færði þá þangað, er nú heita Tjaldastaðir, og gerði þeim þar
tjald og þjónaði þeim sjálfur, meðan þeir lifðu, en þeir dó
allir. En sá, er lengst lifði, gróf niður fé mikið, og hefir
það ekki fundist síðan. Af þessum atburðum varð Þorsteinn
tjaldstæðingur kallaður; hans synir voru þeir Gunnar og
Skeggi.
