Hrollaugr fór til Íslands með ráði Haralds konungs ok hafði með sér konu sína ok sonu. Hann kom austr at Horni ok skaut þar fyrir borð ǫndvegissúlum sínum, ok bar þær á land í Hornafirði, en hann rak undan ok vestr fyrir land; fékk hann þá útivist harða ok vatnfátt. Þeir tóku land vestr í Leiruvági á Nesjum; var hann þar enn fyrsta vetr. Þá frá hann til ǫndugissúlna sinna ok fór austr þannveg; var hann annan vetr undir Ingólfsfelli. Síðan fór hann austr í Hornafjǫrð ok nam land austan frá Horni til Kvíár ok bjó fyrst undir Skarðsbrekku í Hornafirði, en síðan á Breiðabólstað í Fellshverfi.
