Þórir þursasprengir hét maðr; hann var fœddur í Ǫmð á Hálogalandi ok varð missáttr við Hákon jarl Grjótgarðsson ok fór af því til Íslands; hann nam Øxnadal allan ok bjó at Vatsá. Hans son var Steinrøðr enn rammi, er mǫrgum manni vann bót, þeim er aðrar meinvættir gerðu mein. Geirhildr hét fjǫlkunnig kona ok meinsǫm. Það sá ófreskir menn, at Steinrøðr kom at henni óvarri, en hún brá sér í nautsbelgs líki vatsfulls. Steinrøðr var járnsmiðr; hann hafði járngadd mikinn í hendi. Um fund þeirra er þetta kveðit:
Fork lætr æ sem orkar
atglamrandi hamra
á glotkylli gjalla
Geirhildar hví meira.
Járnstafr skapar œrna,
eru sollin rif trolli,
hár á Hjaltaeyri
hríð kerlingar síðu.
