Svartkell hét maður katneskur; hann nam land fyrir innan
Mýdalsá milli (og) Eilífsdalsár og bjó að Kiðjafelli fyrst en
síðan á Eyri.
Hans son var Þorkell faðir Glúms, er svo baðst fyrir að
krossi: "Gott ey gömlum mönnum, gott ey ærum mönnum." Hann
var faðir Þórarins, föður Glúms.
Valþjófur, son Örlygs hins gamla frá Esjubergi, nam Kjós alla
og bjó að Meðalfelli; frá honum eru Valþjóflingar komnir.
Signý var dóttir hans, móðir Gnúps, föður Birnings, föður
Gnúps, föður Eiríks Grænlendingabiskups.
