Síðan fór Gregoríus Dagsson norður til Kaupangs og kom þar
fyrir jól. Ingi konungur varð hinn fegnasti honum og bað hann
hafa slíkt allt af sinni eign sem hann vildi.
Eysteinn konungur brenndi bæ Gregoríusar og hjó búið. En naust þau, er Eysteinn konungur hinn eldri hafði gera látið norður í Kaupangi er mestar gersemar voru, þá voru brennd um veturinn og skip góð með er Ingi konungur átti og var það verk hið óvinsælsta en ráðin voru kennd Eysteini konungi og Filippusi Gyrðarsyni, fóstbróður Sigurðar konungs.
Um sumarið eftir fór Ingi norðan og gerðist hinn fjölmennasti en Eysteinn konungur austan og safnaði hann sér og liði. Þeir hittust í Seleyjum fyrir norðan Líðandisnes og var Ingi konungur miklu fjölmennari. Var við sjálft að þeir mundu berjast. Þeir sættust og varð það að sætt að Eysteinn skyldi festa að gjalda hálfan fimmta tug marka gulls. Skyldi Ingi konungur hafa þrjá tigu marka fyrir það er Eysteinn hafði ráðið skipabrunanum og svo naustanna en þá skyldi Filippus vera útlagur og svo þeir allir er að brennunni höfðu verið þar er skipin voru brennd. Þeir menn skyldu og vera útlagir er sannir voru að áverkum við Sigurð konung því að Eysteinn konungur kenndi það Inga konungi að hann héldi þá menn. En Gregoríus skyldi hafa fimmtán merkur fyrir það er Eysteinn konungur brenndi upp fyrir honum. Eysteini konungi líkaði illa og þótti nauðungarsætt vera. Ingi konungur fór austur í Vík frá stefnunni en Eysteinn norður í Þrándheim.
Síðan var Ingi konungur í Víkinni en Eysteinn konungur norður
og hittust þeir ekki. En þau ein fóru orð í milli er ekki
voru til sætta og svo lét hvortveggi drepa vini annars og
varð ekki af fégjaldinu af Eysteins hendi. Kenndi og hvor
öðrum að ekki héldi það er mælt var. Ingi konungur og þeir
Gregoríus spöndu mjög lið undan Eysteini konungi, Bárð
standala Brynjólfsson og Símon skálp son Hallkels húks og
mart annað lendra manna, Halldór Brynjólfsson og Jón
Hallkelsson.
