Finnur Árnason fór inn til bæjar og hafði með sér húskarla
sína, nær átta tigum manna. En er hann kom inn til býjarins
þá átti hann þing við býjarmenn. Finnur talaði á þinginu
langt og snjallt, bað býjarmenn og bændur taka allt annað ráð
en hatast við konung sinn eða reka hann í brott, minnti þá á
hversu mart illt hafði yfir þá gengið síðan er þeir höfðu það
fyrr gert við hinn helga Ólaf konung, sagði og að konungur
vill bæta víg þessi svo sem hinir bestu menn og hinir
vitrustu vilja dæma. Lauk Finnur svo sinni ræðu að menn vildu
láta standa þetta mál kyrrt þar til er aftur kæmu sendimenn
þeir er Bergljót hafði gert til Upplanda á fund Hákonar
Ívarssonar.



Síðan fór Finnur út til Orkadals með þá menn er honum höfðu
fylgt til býjar. Síðan fór hann upp til Dofrafjalls og austur
um fjall. Fór Finnur fyrst á fund Orms jarls mágs síns, jarl
átti Sigríði dóttur Finns, og sagði honum til erinda sinna.
