Magnús konungur og Haraldur konungur réðu báðir Noregi hinn
næsta vetur eftir sætt þeirra og hafði sína hirð hvor þeirra.
Þeir fóru um veturinn um Upplönd að veislum og voru stundum
báðir samt en stundum sér hvor þeirra. Þeir fóru allt norður
til Þrándheims og til Niðaróss.

Magnús konungur hafði varðveitt helgan dóm Ólafs konungs
síðan er hann kom í land, klippti hár hans og negl á hverjum
tólf mánuðum og hafði sjálfur lykil þann er skrínið mátti upp
lúka með. Urðu þá margs konar jartegnir að helgum dómi Ólafs
konungs.

Brátt gerðust greinir í um samþykki konunganna og voru margir
svo illgjarnir að þeirra gengu svo illa í milli.
