En er Haraldur kom til Hólmgarðs fagnaði Jarisleifur konungur
honum forkunnarvel. Dvaldist hann þar um veturinn, tók þá í
sína varðveislu gull það allt er hann hafði þannug áður sent
utan af Miklagarði og margs konar dýrgripi. Var það svo mikið
fé að engi maður norður í lönd hafði séð slíkt í eins manns
eigu.

Haraldur hafði þrem sinnum komið í pólutasvarf meðan hann var
í Miklagarði. Það eru þar lög að hvert sinn er
Grikkjakonungur deyr þá skulu Væringjar hafa pólutasvarf.
Þeir skulu þá ganga um allar pólutir konungs þar sem
féhirslur hans eru og skal hver þá eignast að frjálsu er
höndum kemur á.
