Haraldur konungur fór víða um Gautland herskildi og átti þar
margar orustur tveim megin elfarinnar og fékk hann oftast
sigur en í einni hverri orustu féll Hrani gauski. Síðan lagði
Haraldur konungur land allt undir sig fyrir norðan elfina og
fyrir vestan Væni og Vermaland allt. En er hann snerist þaðan
í brott þá setti hann þar eftir til landsgæslu Guttorm
hertoga og lið mikið með honum. En hann snerist þá til
Upplanda og dvaldist þar um hríð, fór síðan norður um
Dofrafjall til Þrándheims og var þar enn langar hríðir.



Hann tók þá að eiga börn. Þau Ása áttu sonu þessa: Guttormur
var elstur, Hálfdan svarti, Hálfdan hvíti, þeir voru
tvíburar, Sigröður hinn fjórði. Þeir voru allir upp fæddir í
Þrándheimi með miklum sóma.
