Um vorið er ísa leysti stikuðu Gautar Gautelfi, að Haraldur
konungur skyldi eigi mega leggja skipum sínum upp í landið.
Haraldur konungur hélt skipum sínum upp í elfina og lagðist
við stikin, herjaði þá á bæði lönd og brenndi byggðina.

Svo segir Hornklofi:

Grennir þröng að gunni

gunnmárs fyr haf sunnan,

sá var gramr, og gumnum,

goðvarðr, und sig jörðu,

og hjálmtamiðr hilmir

hólmreyðar lét ólman

lindihjört fyr landi

lundprúðr við stik bundinn.

Síðan riðu Gautar með her mikinn og héldu orustu við Harald
konung og varð þar allmikið mannfall og hafði Haraldur
konungur sigur.

Svo segir Hornklofi:

Ríks, þreifst reiddra öxa

rymr, knáttu spjör glymja,

svartskyggð bitu seggi

sverð þjóðkonungs ferðar,

þá er, hugfylldra hölda,

hlaut andskoti Gauta,

hár var söngr of svírum,

sigr, flugbeiddra vigra.
