Hákon konungur tók þar skip þau er uppi hafði fjarað er átt
höfðu Eiríkssynir og lét draga á land upp. Þar lét Hákon
konungur leggja Egil ullserk í skip og með honum alla þá menn
er af þeirra liði höfðu fallið, lét bera þar að jörð og
grjót. Hákon konungur lét og fleiri skip upp setja og bera á
valinn og sér þá hauga enn fyrir sunnan Fræðarberg.



Eyvindur skáldaspillir orti vísu þessa þá er Glúmur Geirason
hældist í sinni vísu um fall Hákonar konungs:



Fyrr rauð Fenris varra

flugvarr konungr sparra,

málmhríðar svall meiðum

móðr, í Gamla blóði,

þá er óstirfinn arfa

Eiríks of rak, geira

nú tregr gæti-Gauta

grams fall, á sjá alla.


Hávir bautasteinar standa hjá haugi Egils ullserks.
