Hákon konungur fór öndurðan vetur á Upplönd, stefndi þar þing
og dreif allt fólk á hans fund, það er komast mátti. Var hann
þá til konungs tekinn á öllum þingum. Fór hann þá austur til
Víkur. Þar komu til hans Tryggvi og Guðröður bræðrasynir hans
og margir aðrir er upp töldu harma sína þá er hlotið höfðu af
Eiríki bróður hans. Eiríks óvinsæld óx æ því meir sem allir
menn gerðu sér kærra við Hákon konung og heldur höfðu sér
traust að mæla sem þótti.

Hákon konungur gaf konungsnafn Tryggva og Guðröði og ríki það
sem Haraldur konungur hafði gefið feðrum þeirra. Tryggva gaf
hann Ranríki og Vingulmörk en Guðröði Vestfold. En fyrir því
að þeir voru ungir og bernskir þá setti hann til göfga menn
og vitra að ráða landi með þeim. Gaf hann þeim land með þeim
skildaga sem fyrr hafði verið, að þeir skyldu hafa helming
skylda og skatta við hann. Fór Hákon konungur norður til
Þrándheims er voraði hið efra um Upplönd.
