Gunnhildarsynir buðu út liði miklu úr Víkinni, fara svo
norður með landi og hafa lið og skip úr hverju fylki, gera
það bert að þeir munu her þeim stefna norður til Þrándheims á
hendur Hákoni jarli. Þessi tíðindi spyr jarl og safnar her
saman og ræður til skipa.

En er hann spyr til hers Gunnhildarsona, hversu mikinn þeir
hafa, þá heldur hann liði sínu suður á Mæri og herjar allt
þar er hann fór og drap mikið mannfólk. Og þá sendi hann
aftur Þrændaher, bændalið allt, en hann fór herskildi um Mæri
hvoratveggju og Raumsdal og hafði njósnir allt fyrir sunnan
Stað um her Gunnhildarsona. Og er hann spurði að þeir voru
komnir í Fjörðu og biðu byrjar að sigla norður um Stað þá
sigldi Hákon jarl norðan fyrir Stað og útleið svo að ekki sá
af landi segl hans, lét svo ganga hafleiðis austur með landi
og kom fram í Danmörk, sigldi þá í Austurveg og herjaði þar
um sumarið.

Gunnhildarsynir héldu liði sínu norður til Þrándheims og
dvöldust þar mjög lengi, tóku þar skatta alla og skyldir. En
er á leið sumarið þá settust þar eftir Sigurður slefa og
Guðröður en Haraldur og aðrir þeir bræður fóru þá austur í
land og leiðangurslið það er farið hafði um sumarið.
