Haraldur konungur sat oftast á Hörðalandi og Rogalandi og svo
þeir fleiri bræður. Þeir sátu oftlega í Harðangri.

Það var á einu sumri að hafskip kom af Íslandi er áttu
íslenskir menn. Það var hlaðið af vararfeldum og héldu þeir
skipinu til Harðangurs því að þeir spurðu að þar var
fjölmenni mest fyrir. En er menn komu til kaupa við þá, þá
vildi engi kaupa vararfeldina.

Þá fer stýrimaður á fund Haralds konungs því að honum var
hann áður málkunnigur og segir honum til þessa vandræða.
Konungur segir að hann mun koma til þeirra og hann gerir svo.
Haraldur konungur var maður lítillátur og gleðimaður mikill.
Hann var þar kominn með skútu alskipaða.

Hann leit á varning þeirra og mælti við stýrimann: "Viltu
gefa mér einn gráfeldinn?"

"Gjarna," segir stýrimaður, "þótt fleiri séu."

Þá tók konungur einn feldinn og skikkti. Síðan gekk hann ofan
í skútuna. En áður þeir reru í brott hafði hver hans manna
feld keyptan.

Fám dögum síðar kom þar svo mart manna, þeirra er hver vildi
feld kaupa, að eigi fengu hálfir, þeir er hafa vildu. Síðan
var hann kallaður Haraldur gráfeldur.
