Sundr springr svalra landa
sverrigjǫrð fyr bǫrðum.

{Sverrigjǫrð svalra landa} springr sundr fyr bǫrðum.
 
‘The swirling girdle of cool lands [SEA] splits asunder before the bows.

notes and context

As Frag 9-12 above. Sverrigjǫrð svalra landa ‘the swirling girdle of cool lands’ is a kenning for ‘sea’.

The stanza is preceded by a brief prose link, ok en svá ‘and again, thus’ (R), with some variants.
