I, 8) Nil temere uxori de servis crede querenti: / semper enim mulier, quem coniux diligit, odit ‘Believe nothing rashly of a wife complaining about the servants; for often a woman hates the one her husband likes’. The last l. has no equivalent in the Lat. text. — [1-3]: The wording of 624 is quite different, although the sense is roughly the same: Konu þinnar | kveinstöfum þarftu eigi at trúa, | þótt hún þræla þinna áviti opt ‘You need not believe your wife’s complaints, although she may often accuse your servants’.
