Hálfdan hvítbeinn var konungur ríkur. Hann átti Ásu dóttur
Eysteins hins harðráða Upplendingakonungs. Hann réð fyrir
Heiðmörk. Þau Hálfdan áttu tvo sonu, Eystein og Guðröð.
Hálfdan eignaðist mikið af Heiðmörk og Þótn og Haðaland og
mikið af Vestfold. Hann varð gamall maður. Hann varð
sóttdauður á Þótni og var síðan fluttur út á Vestfold og
heygður þar sem heitir Skæreið í Skíringssal.



Svo segir Þjóðólfur:



Það frá hver,

að Hálfdanar

sökkmiðlendr

sakna skyldu,

og hallvarps

hlífi-Nauma

þjóðkonung

á Þótni tók.

Og Skæreið

í Skíringssal

of brynjálfs

beinum drúpir.
