Ólafur sonur Ingjalds konungs, þá er hann spurði fráfall
föður síns þá fór hann með það lið er honum vildi fylgja því
að allur múgur Svía hljóp upp með einu samþykki að rækja ætt
Ingjalds konungs og alla hans vini. Ólafur fór fyrst upp á
Næríki en er Svíar spurðu til hans þá mátti hann ekki þar
vera. Fór hann þá vestur markleiði til ár þeirrar er norðan
fellur í Væni og Elfur heitir. Þar dveljast þeir, taka þar að
ryðja mörkina og brenna og byggja síðan. Urðu þar brátt stór
héruð. Kölluðu þeir það Vermaland. Þar voru góðir
landskostir. En er spurðist til Ólafs í Svíþjóð, að hann
ryður markir, kölluðu þeir hann trételgju og þótti hæðilegt
hans ráð.

Ólafur fékk þeirrar konu er Sölveig hét eða Sölva dóttir
Hálfdanar gulltannar vestan af Sóleyjum. Hálfdan var sonur
Sölva Sölvarssonar Sölvasonar hins gamla er fyrstur ruddi
Sóleyjar. Móðir Ólafs trételgju hét Gauthildur en hennar
móðir Ólöf dóttir Ólafs hins skyggna konungs af Næríki.
Ólafur og Sölva áttu tvo sonu, Ingjald og Hálfdan. Hálfdan
var upp fæddur í Sóleyjum með Sölva móðurbróður sínum. Hann
var kallaður Hálfdan hvítbeinn.
