Sölvi hét sækonungur, sonur Högna í Njarðey, er þá herjaði í
Austurveg. Hann átti ríki á Jótlandi. Hann hélt liði sínu til
Svíþjóðar. Þá var Eysteinn konungur á veislu í héraði því er
Lófund heitir. Þar kom Sölvi konungur á óvart um nótt og tók
hús á konungi og brenndi hann inni með hirð sína alla.
Þá fer Sölvi til Sigtúna og beiðir sér konungsnafns og
viðurtöku en Svíar safna her og vilja verja land sitt og varð
þar orusta svo mikil að það er sagt að eigi sleit á ellefu
dægrum. Þar fékk Sölvi konungur sigur og var hann þá konungur
yfir Svíaveldi langa hríð til þess er Svíar sviku hann og var
hann þar drepinn.
Svo segir Þjóðólfur:
Veit eg Eysteins
enda fólginn
lokins lífs
á Lófundi,
og sikling
með Svíum kváðu
jóska menn
inni brenna.
Og bitsótt
í brandnói
hlíðar þangs
á hilmi rann,
þá er timbrfastr
tóftar nökkvi,
flotna fullr,
of fylki brann.
