Bǫlverkr ArnórssonDrápa about Haraldr harðráði

text and translation

‘Hoard-enemy [GENEROUS MAN], the green ground was later granted to you, as I heard, when you met Magnús and gave him gold. The accord was kept most peacefully between you two kinsmen, but from then on Sveinn could only expect war.

notes and context

Haraldr and his nephew Magnús Óláfsson met in Norway (1046), and Haraldr gave Magnús treasures which he had brought back from Greece. In return, Magnús granted Haraldr joint sovereignty in Norway.
