Snorri tells how the names of famous dynasties, including the Skjǫldungar (descended from Skjǫldr in Denmark) have come to be used in poetry as appellations for rulers.

The sources identify Arnórr as poet, except ms. A, which names Markús, and U, in which the ll. follow straight on from ÞjóðA Lv 11/5-8.
