text and translation

Tendra ljós í leyndum,
lundgóðr, vitum þjóðar,
böls hirtir (vek björtum)
björt (elskuga hjörtu).
Hagr, efl, hallar fegrir,
— hverr er leystr, er þér treystisk —
várn líkama veykan,
vagns, eilífu magni.

Lundgóðr hirtir böls, tendra björt ljós í leyndum vitum þjóðar; vek hjörtu björtum elskuga. Hagr fegrir {hallar vagns}, efl várn veykan líkama eilífu magni; hverr er leystr, er treystisk þér.

‘Benevolent chastiser of sin, kindle bright lights in the secret consciousnesses of people; rouse hearts with bright love. Skilful beautifier of the hall of the wagon [SKY/HEAVEN], strengthen our weak body with everlasting strength; everyone is redeemed who trusts himself to you.
