Notes: [2, 4] þier ... yðr (2nd pers. dat. sg., 2nd. pers. acc. pl.) ‘you ... you’: Note the interchange between the informal and formal forms of address. — [2] sæta ‘lady’: This lit. means ‘grass-widow’, but it is used here and elsewhere in the generic sense ‘lady, woman’. — [4] að skiljaz ‘to part’: The m.v. is required in the construction skiljask við e-n ‘to part from somebody.’ (see Fritzner: skiljask við).
