Hervör is one of the main characters in the legendary saga Hervarar saga ok Heiðreks. She has the characteristics of a shield-maiden and is the daughter of Angantyr, from who she inherits the magical sword Tyrfing. She is the wife of King Höfund, and Heiðrekr is her son. Another Hervör, Heiðrekr's daughter, is her grand-daughter.

Hervör is also the name of a valkyrie in Völundarkviða. It is possible that the two figures are linked, but there is little evidence.
