This dróttkvætt helmingr (Ebrún Lv) is attributed to Eyjólfr Brúnason and has survived in the X branch of LaufE (ms. papp10ˣ, the main ms. for this edition). The original source of the helmingr is unknown. Faulkes (LaufE 1979, 163, 176, 269 n., 270) thinks it possible that this stanza originally belonged to some now lost leaves of Codex Wormianus (W) since the LaufE sections about fót ‘foot’ and hǫnd ‘hand’ are similar to surviving parts of W. The helmingr is also preserved in ms. 743ˣ of the Y branch of LaufE, where it was added by Árni Magnússon (cf. Jón Helgason 1966a, 177; LaufE 1979, 345 n.). The whole section fót má kenna ‘foot can be called’ in LaufE is, aside from the lack of this helmingr, comparable to the similar section in Skm (SnE 1998, I, 108). The normalisation of the stanza in this edition is as appropriate for the work attributed to Eyjólfr, a thirteenth-century Icelander.
