Lausavísa from Magnúss saga góða ok Haralds harðráða — Anon (MH)II
Anonymous Lausavísur
Kari Ellen Gade 2009, ‘ Anonymous, Lausavísa from Magnúss saga góða ok Haralds harðráða’ in Kari Ellen Gade (ed.), Poetry from the Kings’ Sagas 2: From c. 1035 to c. 1300. Skaldic Poetry of the Scandinavian Middle Ages 2. Turnhout: Brepols, pp. 813-14. <https://skaldic.org/m.php?p=text&i=3086> (accessed 19 April 2024)
The st.,
Anon (MH), is recorded in H, Hr (
H-Hr) and Flat (
Flat) only, and it must have been part of Mork (
Mork), which has a lacuna at this point (the lacuna has been filled in with text from Flat in
Mork 1928-32 and
Andersson and Gade 2000). The st. is anonymous in all mss. In
AM 761 b 4°ˣ (
761bˣ) Árni Magnússon (at 247r) tentatively suggested that it could have belonged to
Oddr kíkinaskáld’s memorial poem from c. 1047 about
Magnús inn góði Óláfsson (
Okík Magn), as does
Fidjestøl (1982, 133), but that attribution is rejected by Finnur Jónsson (
SnE 1848-87,
III, 577). See also Introduction,
Okík Magn. H is the main ms.

CloseInformation about a text: poem, sequence of stanzas, or prose work
This page is used for different resources. For groups of stanzas such as poems, you will see the verse text and, where published, the translation of each stanza. These are also links to information about the individual stanzas.
For prose works you will see a list of the stanzas and fragments in that prose work, where relevant, providing links to the individual stanzas.
Where you have access to introduction(s) to the poem or prose work in the database, these will appear in the ‘introduction’ section.
The final section, ‘sources’ is a list of the manuscripts that contain the prose work, as well as manuscripts and prose works linked to stanzas and sections of a text.
