Enn kom elsku þinnar
annarr drottins manna
fýstr í faðminn hæsta,
frið bjóðandi þjóðum.
Fekk Andréas yndi
æstr á krossi mæstum
lofandi guðs í lífi
líkjari himinríkis.
 
‘Again came another of the Lord’s men, eager for your love, into the highest embrace, offering peace to nations. Most noble Andrew, in his life a praiseworthy imitator of God, obtained the joy of the kingdom of heaven on the most glorious cross.

Andréas var með bandi
festr á * kross og Kristi
kærr miðviku næri.
Lífið liet með gæfu
ljóss á helgum krossi
föstudag, sá er fýstiz
fagnaðar guðs af magni.
 
‘The chief Apostle of love, Andrew, and dear to Christ, was tied with a bond on a cross near midweek. The bright one, who yearned mightily for the joy of God, gave up his life on a Friday with good fortune on the holy cross.
Skært ljós skugglaus birti
skein yfir krossin hreina,
þá er Andréas endi
aldr, með drottins valdi.
Sá hann guð sjálfr í dauða
sier bjóðandi þjóða
prýðir faðminn fríða;
frægð slík himinríkis.
 
‘A clear light, a shadowless brightness, shone over the pure cross through the Lord’s power, when Andrew ended his life. He himself, the adorner of nations [HOLY MAN], saw in death God offering him his fair embrace; such [is] the fame of the heavenly kingdom.

‘The martyr of Jesus Christ [= Andrew] obtained a most excellent place; almighty God chose Andrew for his delight and endowed him with grace; he may therefore be called gentle, the chief Apostle adorned with virtues; he is stretched onto God’s cross.
