context

This episode occurs in the longer narrative Víga-Glúms saga, preserved fully in the vellum manuscript Möðruvallabók and thought to be written early- to mid-13th century. The saga centres around the aggressive Icelandic chieftain, Glúmr, and is full of saga-style killings and feud.
