context

Bjarnar saga Hítdælakappa is one of the íslendingasögur. Björn, an Icelandic skald, was a relative of Egill, known from Egils saga, and grew up at Borg. The saga is believed to have been composed in the early 13th century.

commentary

Two lines from the verse are missing in the manuscript, perhaps omitted because of indecency (Robert, C., Kellogg, R. L., Acker, P. L., Viðar, H., & Cook, R. (Eds.). (1997). The Complete Sagas of Icelanders. Including 49 Tales (Vol. 1). Reykjavík: Leifur Eiríksson. pp. 277).
