Laxdœla saga was written in the 13th century and tells of the people of Breiðafjörður area in Iceland. The narrative dates to between the 9th and early 11th century. The saga survives in several fragments but the oldest preserved complete version are found in Möðruvallabók which dates to the 14th century.
This is the first and oldest example of a decription of aVǫlvas grave found in the icelandic sagas.
