Flateyjarbók is the largest preserved manuscript from the Icelandic middle ages, written in the late 14th century. Among the many narratives of the collection, Óláf saga Helga tells the story of a Norwegian king who brings Christianity to the heathen Norwegian people far out in the outskirts of the kingdom, as told in the short story of Vǫlsa þattr.
